Hornbill Festival & Dzukou Valley Trek: 5N/4D Trip from Guwahati

Gather your crew and board the train at Paltanbazar Railway Station. Cue the Chaiyya Chaiyya playlist as you roll out of the city and head towards the hills of Nagaland.

Spend the night onboard the train to Dimapur.

Wake up to the crisp morning air as you arrive in Dimapur between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

Hop into your taxis for a scenic 3-4 hour drive straight to the Kisama Heritage Village.

Arrive and check into the campsite. Freshen up and get ready for the sensory overload.

Head to the main ground to witness the spectacular Hornbill Festival opening ceremony. Spend the afternoon exploring traditional Morungs, tasting local delicacies, and trying Zutho.

Enjoy the night market and grab dinner right at the heritage village before the evening main event kicks off from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Today is all about soaking in the culture at a relaxed pace. Sleep in a bit and enjoy a lazy breakfast.

Fuel up before heading back to the festival grounds. Watch the spectacular cultural tribal performances—war dances, folk songs, and traditional games from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The rest of the day is yours to dive deeper into the festival. Hunt for Naga handicrafts, try more exotic local street food, and catch the evening music acts.

Swap the festival drums for the sound of nature. Eat a heavy breakfast because today, you climb! A short 1-hour drive brings you to the Dzukou trek starting point.

Start the hike. The initial steep climb eventually opens up into the rolling, emerald-green carpets of Dzukou Valley. It is pure visual poetry.

Reach the Dzukou base camp.

Spend the evening chilling out, sharing stories over dinner, and watching the Himalayan night sky light up with stars.

Wake up to a surreal sunrise over the valley. Have breakfast and spend the morning exploring the hidden streams, frozen caves, and endless green expanses of Dzukou.

Trek back down towards Zakhama, reaching the endpoint by 3:00 PM.

Rest your legs during the 4-hour drive back to Dimapur.

Catch the 9:00 PM train back to Guwahati, taking a camera roll full of unmatched memories with you.

Reach Guwahati Station early in the morning. The journey officially ends here, leaving you free to head to the airport or extend your stay in the city!
